Emma Stone's NYFF Dress Was on the Paris Runway a Day Before — the Custom Version Swapped Yellow for Muted Grey
Emma Stone produced The Debut rather than starring in it, but it was her Louis Vuitton dress — barely two days off the Paris runway — that made the New York Film Festival premiere a fashion story.

Emma Stone walked the New York Film Festival red carpet on October 8 for the premiere of The Debut — the Jesse Eisenberg-directed film she produced through her company Fruit Tree, alongside Dave McCary and Ali Herting — in a Louis Vuitton dress that had been on the runway in Paris barely 24 hours before.
The dress is a custom version of a slip from Louis Vuitton's Spring 2027 show, which creative director Nicolas Ghesquière presented in the Louvre courtyard on October 6. W Magazine describes the original runway piece as featuring "a gray satin panel that draped along her neckline" over a "bright yellow underlay" with "embellished silver straps." For New York, Stone's custom version swapped out that yellow underlay for muted, neutral tones — WWD and Red Carpet Fashion Awards both describe the NYFF dress as noticeably more subdued than the runway original, keeping the draped neckline and satin fabric but losing the bright color underneath.
The quick turnaround — Paris runway on Monday, New York red carpet on Wednesday night — is itself the story here. Getting a single custom garment cut, fitted and shipped across the Atlantic inside 48 hours is a level of fashion-house logistics usually reserved for a handful of A-list ambassadors, and Stone has been the face of Louis Vuitton's ad campaigns for years, which is almost certainly why this particular dress made the trip.
Stone finished the look with Louis Vuitton ankle-strap sandals and jewelry from Repossi, including small hoop earrings and a stack of delicate rings, styled by her longtime collaborator Petra Flannery. The hair and makeup stayed simple, in keeping with what multiple outlets described as a nineties-minimalist mood, letting the dress itself carry the look.
The Debut, which opens in theaters December 11, stars Julianne Moore as a New Jersey housewife who auditions for a community theater musical run by a director played by Paul Giamatti, with Halle Bailey, Colton Ryan and Bernadette Peters in supporting roles. It's Eisenberg's film as writer and director, drawing on his own New Jersey childhood, with Stone's Fruit Tree producing rather than starring — her presence on the carpet was about backing the film, not appearing in it.
