Zendaya's Crystal Prada Gown at the 2026 Emmys: Get the Look

A plunging silver gown covered in crystals, a new pixie cut and pearls. What Zendaya wore to the Emmys, and how to wear the idea yourself.

Key takeaway: Zendaya's gown was custom Prada, inspired by the house's spring 2010 collection, so it is not for sale. The wearable version is a plunging, embellished long dress in one colour, with jewellery kept small.

Zendaya arrived at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, 2026 as a nominee for the third season of Euphoria, and wore one of the most photographed dresses of the night: a custom silver Prada gown with a deep plunging neckline, embroidered all over with crystals on a sheer tulle base.

What she wore

According to W Magazine, the design was inspired by Prada's spring 2010 collection. Strands of crystals were strung along the waistline, and the skirt ended in a slight train. Hola described the effect as a sheer gown dripping with hundreds of sparkling crystals. It was styled by Law Roach, who has worked with her for more than a decade.

The jewellery was deliberately soft against all that shine: diamond-and-pearl Mikimoto earrings and a Rolex watch. Makeup stayed in the same register, with glossy lips and a berry-toned blush.

The other talking point was her hair, cut into a naturally tousled pixie by hairstylist Coree Moreno. W Magazine reports that the cut was a nod to Halle Berry's famous short crop, updated to look modern. It also did a practical job: with nothing falling over the shoulders, the neckline and the line of the dress stayed completely clear.

Why it works

The dress is one idea carried all the way through. One colour, one kind of sparkle, a simple long shape. Nothing about the cut is complicated, which is what allows the surface to be so rich.

The balance comes from what was left out. A plunging neckline on a crystal dress could easily have been finished with a necklace, long hair and a bright lip. Instead the neck is bare, the hair is short and the earrings are small. Pearls in place of more diamonds soften the look and stop it from tipping into costume.

It is also a lesson in reference. A design drawn from the house's own archive looks considered rather than trend-driven, which is why the dress photographed as elegant and not simply as shiny.

How to wear the idea

The gown was made for her and cannot be bought, but the formula is easy to follow. Look for a long dress in an embellished fabric such as sequins, rhinestones or beaded mesh, in a single colour, with a plunging or halter neckline. The shape should be simple: a column or a gentle A-line, with no ruffles or cut-outs competing with the surface.

If silver feels like too much, change the colour and keep everything else. A deep jewel tone such as burgundy or emerald in the same kind of fabric gives the same effect and is easier to wear to a party or a winter wedding. For a less formal event, a midi length in a rhinestone mesh carries the idea without the train.

Then copy the restraint. Small pearl or diamond earrings, no necklace, hair up or back from the neck, and plain satin heels in a pale shade. A small metallic clutch is enough for a bag.

What to avoid

The quickest way to lose the effect is to add to it. A statement necklace fights with the neckline. A sparkling bag and sparkling shoes turn one idea into three. And a heavily embellished dress in a busy cut, with slits, cut-outs and a train all at once, loses the clean line that made this one work.
